Near Death Experience and Journey to Khao Sok National Park

Quint:  We were up early, the plan was to travel all the way to Khao Sok National park.  Our island-hopping had come to an end for now.  We were just tightening the last straps on our rucksacks when we heard a slow rumbling sound...it all seemed to happen in slow motion from then on...
The rumbling turned to a crackling sound then to a loud thundering that curled up the hairs on the back of my neck!  We dove back from the window onto the bed in complete shock.  When all had settled there was only one logical question to ask, “What the hell was that???”  Either the mountain behind us had just slid into the ocean or indeed Armageddon had at last arrived!
Peeking through our window to see what was left of the human race, we suddenly saw what all the fuss was about.  A massive redwood tree from the jungle above the bungalows had fallen down about 20 meters from us and had casually removed the little bungalow we had been staying in the day before.
There have been a couple times in my life when an incident has reminded me on how fragile us humans really are.  If there’s anyone up there they really were watching over us!
Bridge:  Out trip to Khao SOk was long and the road was competing with that from Mkuti to Kariba.  We rolled into Khao Sok Jungle Huts mid-afternoon and were showed to our room.  We had agreed to pay 300BHT but as the rooms were already heaving with tourists, we got put into a 700BHT hut, but for the same price.  The surrounding jungle was beautiful.  Great rolling hills with dense green jungle and great but rolling thunder clouds.  We were welcomed with an outstanding downpour which approached like the a thundering waterfall behind us.
